Getting Started in Fling This and That
A first-hour loop for Brickified Studio's Roblox physics sandbox.
Fling This and That drops you onto a physics island with no quest log. Your job in the first hour is not to win a 1v1. It is to learn the Grab Line, print a coin stack, and leave with at least one badge and one toy you actually like. This walkthrough is for the Brickified Studio remake (place ID 84717457860674), not Horomori’s original Fling Things and People.
What you spawned into
The experience is a 30-player sandbox: fling, fight, build, explore, scavenge. Anything unanchored — pallets, chairs, rockets, other avatars — can be latched with the Grab Line and thrown. Building plots are the exception: inside a plot, grabs and flings are blocked so you can actually place furniture.
Servers get messy fast. If the island is already a tornado of missiles, hop to a quieter shard. Coin machines and the incinerator are shared; a packed public server means you wait on other people’s lever pulls. Details live in how to get money.
First five minutes
- Open settings (puzzle-piece). Enable low-quality trees and disable extra textures if you are on a phone or an old laptop. Players crash when memory climbs past roughly 1.4 GB on weak devices.
- Feel the Grab Line. On PC, left click grabs, right click throws, scroll wheel sets distance, R rotates the held object. Full table: controls.
- Do not duel yet. Walk to spawn’s green groves. The Toy Incinerator sits toward the mountains. Watch one cycle so you know the revolving-door warning.
- Grab a pallet. Ride it for the Wright Brothers badge (fly on your first pallet or toy). That badge is the one most players own; it also teaches the flight habit used later in how to fly.
Mobile players should expect a short delay on grab and drop. It is not you missing the button. Compensate by holding a beat longer than PC players.
First coin stack
Coins buy toys, line skins, and the reach upgrade that makes PvP less miserable. Two sources matter on day one:
- Toy Incinerator — stuff toys or junk into the machine, pull the lever, loot money bags (often around 100 coins each). More mass inside generally means more bags, with community reports capping around six or seven. Incinerating a player can dump about seven bags (500–900 coins) when the machine accepts it.
- ATMs — yellow machines with a red ATM sign. First-day landmarks: right of Jef’s Jumble, inside the Familiar Fields farmhouse, outside the Sand Scorch lighthouse, factory island interior, obtainable houses, Wild West bank. Pin them while you still remember the roads. The map lists the same loop.
Do not spend the first 1,000 coins on a joke plush. Jef’s Jumble (red roof, yellow shopkeeper with a visor that says Fling) sells Farther Reach at 1,000 coins per +1 stud (max 10). That is the purchase that changes how the fling guide feels. The 250 Robux Extended Grab Reach pass unlocks 30 studs and does not stack with Jef’s row — pick one. Confirm the live stall; chat has claimed upgrades vanished after a patch.
First purchases and what to skip
Buy: extra reach if it is in the coin shop, then one movement toy (pallet you like, a rocket kit, or a boat hull) and one combat toy you will actually throw. Rank options on the toys tier list and the coin planner.
Skip on day one: limited cosmetics, every glue variant, and Robux passes you do not understand. Gamepasses can transfer from the original Fling Things and People. Check your inventory before you pay twice for Farther Reach.
Skip entirely: websites selling “FTAT codes.” The codes hub is empty. There is no redeem box to miss.
First combat without rage-quitting
Grab a chair, not a person, and practice throw versus drop. A slow drop dumps the object at your feet. A throw with camera-forward momentum is what sends someone to the ocean. Keep your back to a wall so you cannot be lined up for a straight yeet. If someone latches you, mash the escape interaction — default grab time is long enough for them to aim unless you own Escape Faster.
When you are tired of PvP, walk into a building plot, request member, and spawn a couch. Plots are how the game stays a sandbox instead of a 30-person melee. How to build covers ranks and saves.
First badges besides Wright Brothers
After you can stay on a pallet, try Indiana Jones (enter a refrigerator) and Oppenheimer (launch the large missile and hit someone on the island). Both are uncommon. Airborne asks for a full minute in the air without touching a toy — save it for after how to fly. Super Secret Base and Toy Collector are long-term goals, not first-session chores. Full list: badges.
Who made this, and why it feels like FTAP
Brickified Studio built FTAT with Horomori’s authorization because the original no longer received the same cadence of updates. Lead scripter is brickbrickyguy4, lead builder/artist Aiden Fontsu (aidenfontzu), extra scripting Royal_No0bs. Discord for bug reports is linked on the links page. Expect bugs; the studio still asks players to report them in-game.
The clip in the middle of this page is a real first-session tour, not a highlight reel. Watch it for map pacing, then come back and run the incinerator before you 1v1 anyone with a transferred Farther Reach pass.
Finish the hour with coins in your pocket, a pallet badge, and a graphics preset that does not crash. Everything else on this wiki — scripts, tier lists, changelog — is optional until that loop is automatic.
