How to Fly in Fling This and That

Flight in Fling This and That is not a jetpack button. You ride physics: pallets, rockets, boats, balloons, and whatever unanchored platform still has upward velocity. The Wright Brothers badge exists to force that first ride. Airborne exists to punish anyone who treats the pallet like a skateboard they can hop off of. This page is the movement guide; combat riders should also keep how to fling open.

Pallet takeoff (Wright Brothers)

1. Grab a pallet — spawn one from toys or steal one near spawn.
2. Stand on it, then yank in a way that tilts the board into forward speed rather than a vertical flip.
3. Crouch if the board jitters (Shift on PC). See controls.
4. Stay aboard long enough for the badge toast. Wright Brothers is the common badge (about 74% of players). If it does not pop, you hopped off too early or the pallet counted as furniture you never “flew.”

Pallets are also weapons. A board at chest height into a runner is a moving grab platform. Practice in a quiet corner of the map before you try it on factory island traffic.

How to make a working boat in Fling This and That

Rockets, boats, and jets

Build them inside a plot so nobody yoinks the thruster. Recipes:

• Rocket — hull + thrusters + a clickable or lever-linked igniter. If the button ignores you, despawn/respawn. The rocket tutorial on the build page is the visual; this page is the flight plan: ignite over water, not over the Wild West bank.
• Boat — the embedded clip is a real FTAT boat tutorial. Hull on water, motor aligned with the keel, then a gentle throttle so you do not porpoise into the void.
• Fighter jet style builds — same thruster logic, more parts, more desync. Test in a plot, then take it public.

Farlands exist; people have asked. Do not make a first flight a 700,000-stud pilgrimage. Learn to land first.

Airborne (the hard flight badge)

Airborne: stay in the air for one minute without touching a single toy. Win rate sits around 1.7%. That means:

• The platform you launched from cannot be something the game still counts as a toy you are touching.
• Bumping a floating chair resets the spirit of the challenge even if the toast is generous — play as if any toy contact fails the run.
• A clean rocket arc or a high pallet launch over the ocean is more reliable than hopping rooftops.

Do this on a small server. Random missiles will clip you. Oppenheimer enthusiasts do not care about your timer.

Staying alive in the air

• Look where you want the board to go; camera is steering.
• If the board flips, grab it again — you are allowed to re-latch unless you are on an Airborne attempt that forbids toy contact.
• Low graphics. Flight plus trees plus 30 players is how phones hit the 1400 MB crash.
• Land in a plot if you need a reset. Grabs die at the border.

Spending coins on flight

Movement toys beat cosmetic trails. Fund them with the incinerator, then pick one hull you like from the toys tier list. Reach upgrades help you re-grab a pallet you dropped. They do not replace learning the tilt.

There are no flight codes. Anyone selling a “fly script” belongs in the scripts caution pile, not in your first-hour muscle memory.

Where to practice

• Green groves / spawn — short hops, lots of witnesses.
• Ocean off Sand Scorch — long water landings for boats.
• Cliffs by the pirate tower — height for Airborne attempts; also a good way to eat dirt. Thumbnail energy, bad first choice.
• Plots — assemble, then exit.

Once you can ride, throw, and land without thinking, go back to getting started and replace “walk to the ATM” with “pallet to the ATM.” That is the whole skill, stretched across a bigger island than the original game ever gave you.
